Robert Gunn dominated the SWAC outdoor championships
 
 
Gunn Takes Three Track Titles at SWAC Outdoor Championships

New Orleans, La - Alabama State's Robert Gunn capped an outstanding season by leaving no doubt that he is top distance runner in the conference when he won the 1500, the 5000 and the 1000 meters at the SWAC outdoor track championships.

Gunn took the 1500 meters in a time of 3:53, won the 5000 meters in 15:29 and blew away the field in the 1000 with a time of 32:51.

Delorean Peek ran a great 800, finishing in second - less than a second from the individual title. Marquis Pope was fifth and Christopher Duncan took sixth.

Arthur Hinton III was second in the high jump. Christopher Jones was fourth in the pole vault.

Kamerel Kendrick was fourth in the hammer throw and sixth in the discus.

Jonathan Franklin was fourth in the 400 meters. Beldin Ferguson took sixth in the 110 hurdles.

The men's team was fifth overall. Prairie View won the team title.

In the women's competition, Tanisha Boulware and Shamonique Mattox were 1-2 in the pole vault.
Jewel Wells took second in the 3000 meter steeplechase, with Tevy Henry taking third.

Wells was also fourth in the 10000 meter run. Clarissa Johnson was fifth in the 400 meter hurdles. Johnson also finished sixth in the high jump. Shexnieavia Bryant was fourth in the discus and sixth in the shot put.
 

 

Shanice Mells was sixth in the javelin.

The ASU women finished fifth, as Jackson State took the team championship.
