Alabama State pitcher Josh Froneberger has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference's pitcher of the week.

The junior ace from Atlanta, Georgia threw a five-hit shutout against Mississippi Valley State last Saturday. He walked none and struck out six on the way to an important conference win.

"There's no doubt that Josh is just a great pitcher," said ASU head coach Larry Watkins. "He gives us a chance against anyone every time he's out there. Josh has worked very hard and he deserves all of the honors he is receiving."

Froneberger, a first team All-SWAC selection in 2006, currently leads the league in strikeouts. He is also sixth in opponents' batting average and fifth in innings pitched.
