Alabama State Drops Volleyball Opener to South Alabama

Mobile, Ala. - Alabama State opened the 2007 volleyball season in tough fashion over the weekend as they dropped a match 3-0 at Sun Belt conference power South Alabama. Jessica Hold and Arieon Trinity led the Lady Hornets with 4 kills each. Jasmine Frye had seven digs on the day. Game One (USA 30, ASU 17) The Jaguars got off to a fast start, taking a 5-1 lead. However, the Lady Hornets went on an 8-7 rally to pull within three. However, Lauren Robbins nailed two aces in the next three points to spur the Jaguars to the win. Game Two (USA 30, ASU 10) The Jaguars raced out to a 11-1 lead and never looked back in taking game two. Game Three (USA 30, ASU 11) The Lady Hornets kept game three close early, until the Jaguars grab hold of the contest with a 10-1 run.
