Montgomery, Ala. - In each of their first three matches, Alabama State head volleyball coach Sonia Price has seen tremendous growth in her young squad.

However, despite an energetic crowd and inspired play, ASU fell to Albany 3-0 and Troy 3-1 in a tri-match held at ASU's Lockhart Gymnasium Monday evening.

"We can see ourselves getting better and better," Price said. "We really wanted to get one (win) tonight. We are just missing the belief that we can win big games.

"Physically, we are so much better than we have been. We have to get there mentally."

In the night's other contest, Albany defeated Troy 3-1.

ASU is back in action on Friday and Saturday as they host the 8-team Lady Hornet Invitational. Games will be held simultaneously in Lockhart Gymnasium and the Joe L. Reed Acadome.

The field includes Alabama A & M, ASU, Nicholls State, Mississippi Valley State, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern University, University of North Carolina-Asheville and the University of Southern Mississippi. Admission is free.
