Eight teams from across the south have arrived in Montgomery for the Lady Hornet Volleyball Invitational.

"It's a great field," said ASU head coach Sonia Price. "We have some very powerful teams from some of the nation's best conference, as well as the best from the SWAC. If you are a volleyball fan, this is where you should spend your weekend."

Southern Miss, Nicholls State, Southeastern Louisiana, and North Carolina-Ashville will join Alabama A & M, Mississippi Valley and Southern in round-robin competition on Friday and Saturday at ASU. Games will be played in the Acadome and Lockhart Gymnasium.

"We're excited about the opportunity to continue to get better by playing these great teams," Price said. "Our team is so young that these kinds of experience will help us grow."

The Lady Hornets are 0-5 thus far, but have played their best volleyball over the past week.

"We're definitely getting there," Price said. "We have played so much better at home, especially when we had good crowds behind her. We'd love to have ASU fans out here cheering us on."

Games begin each day at 9 a.m. and run throughout the day. Admission is free.
